Ravens Wood School GCSE Results, 2024
We are delighted to announce another fantastic set of GCSE results from our students. This cohort had a very disruptive start to secondary school life due to covid, but they have performed extremely well in their GCSEs, and they have continued to achieve significantly above national averages for boys.
- In Mathematics 83% of our cohort achieved grades 9-4, with 59% of our students achieving a grade 5 or above.
- In English, over 75% of our students achieved grades 9-4, with 61% of our students achieving a grade 5 or above.
- 75% of students achieved English and Maths grades 9-4
- Over 360 of the grades awarded across the subjects were grades 9-7, including 42 grades 9-7 in English a
- nd 40 grades 9-7 in Maths.
We had some amazing successes in individual subjects outlined below, as ever, science continued to demonstrate strong results.
- Physics – 98% grades 9-5 and 45% grade 7 or above
- Chemistry – 95% grades 9-5 and 43% grade 7 or above
- Biology – 97% grades 9-5 and 43 grade 7 or above
- History and Music both achieved over 20% of their grades at 9-7
- 86% of Drama grades were 9-4, with 71% of the students achieving grades 5 or above
- 81% of the DT cohort achieved graded 9-4 including 19% who achieved 9-7
- Year 10 Statistics students achieved 66% grades 9-7 and 98% grades 9-5
- 7 students completed a Community Language GCSE in Turkish, Spanish, Greek, Portuguese and Russian including 3 Grade 9s and a Grade 8.
Additionally, there were phenomenal successes from individual students:
- Benjamin Boam - eight grade 9s, two grade 7s and a grade 8
- Ka Leung - five grade 9s and three grade 8s.
- Aiden French - four grade 9s and 6 grade 8s
- Henry Pragnell – one grade 9, six grade 8s and three grade 7s,
- Shiloh Manoukou-Kombo - one grade 9, six grade 8s and two grade 7s
- Erik Kiszegi – one grade 9, five grade 8s and six grade 7s
- Thomnas Gardner – four grade 8s and six grade 7s
Headteacher, Ms Lester commented, "We are incredibly proud of our Year 11 students and their impressive achievements. They have faced numerous challenges with resilience and a positive attitude, providing them with results that will stand them in good stead for the future. Their success across a wide range of GCSE subjects highlights the strength and effectiveness of our broad and rigorous Key Stage 4 curriculum. Most of our students have secured grades that will open doors for them throughout their lives, and we could not be prouder. We are delighted to welcome many of our Year 11 back into our exceptional sixth form and wish all our students every success in their future endeavours. These achievements are also a testament to the hard work and dedication of our fantastic staff and the support of our families.”
