Ravens Wood School celebrates fantastic results

Ravens Wood School is delighted to report a brilliant set of GCSE grades in 2023. The school’s results are once again significantly above the national average for boys.

  • Mathematics 9-7: 23%
  • Mathematics 9-5: 60%
  • Mathematics 9-4: 83%
  • English 9-7: 23%
  • English 9-5: 65%
  • English 9-4: 80%

RWS11 students achieved an incredible 460 7-9 grades across all subjects. Of these, 54 elite Grade 9s were awarded to Ravens Wood students.

The number of students securing both English and Mathematics at 9-5 grades has remained high at 55%, with 75% achieving a Grade 4 or above in both English and Mathematics. In addition to the superb English and Mathematics results outlined above, other high performing subjects include:

  • Physics – 67% 9-7 grades
  • Chemistry – 56% 9-7 grades
  • Biology – 58% 9-7 grades
  • History – 37% 9-7
  • Drama – 50% 9-7 grades
  • Music – 43% 9-7 grades

Across Ravens Wood RWS11 there were some truly outstanding individual achievements, with the following students achieving grades 9-7 in all of their subjects: Oliver Allen, Jack Davis, Florian Fetahu, Leo Karpys and Somotchi Pius. A special mention to Leo who achieved ten grade 9s and Jack who achieved seven grade 9s.

  • Leo Karpys: Ten Grade 9s (English Language, English Literature, Mathematics, History, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Religious Education, Drama and Computer Science);
  • Jack Davis: Seven Grade 9s (English Language, Mathematics, History, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Statistics);

Commenting on the terrific results, Headteacher, Melanie Lester, said, “We are so proud of our Year 11 cohort and the outcomes that they have achieved. They have risen to the challenges that they have faced with a positive mindset and have gained excellent results which will prepare them well for their next steps. We are proud of our students’ achievements, including over 460 Grade 7-9s. Our students’ performances across such a wide range of GCSE subjects shows the value and success of our broad and powerful KS4 curriculum. The vast majority of our students have secured grades which will unlock doors throughout their lives, and we are very proud of them. We are thrilled to welcome a huge number of Year 11 students back into our outstanding sixth form and wish all our students the very best of luck for their exciting next steps.
